Trevose, PA, August 22, 2012 — The most effective fleet accident management prevention programs are those are built to match their sponsor’s corporate culture. That’s the key piece of advice Vincent Brigidi, CEI’s president and chief operating officer, offers in a featured video interview in the latest onlined edition of Fleet Management Weekly.
“Culutre matters,” says Mr. Brigidi, because safety needs to be driven by many stakeholders, including risk managers, fleet managers, HR, legal [and] the driver’s line manager, Mr. Brigidi says. “Don’t force your culture into a safety program…Culture matters.”
New and improved safety program features and technology are important, “but if you are going to work against what you know is out there in your culture, you are going to find taht you are less successful than if you are working with [a supplier] who is adapting their technology and their program to what works best for you,” he explains.

Trevose, PA, August 7, 2012 – Requiring new fleet drivers to take safety training is one of the ten best ways to reduce fleet accidents. That’s the message Brian Kinniry, CEI manager of risk and safety delivers in the latest issue of Fleet Financials magazine.
Requiring new fleet drivers to take safety training was one of three of the ideas Mr. Kinniry offered in the article entitled “Driver Training Improves Safety & Bolsters Bottom Line,” in the July/August issue of the magazine.
“Before new employees get behind the wheel, they should know what the company’s safety policy is and be familiar with the vehicle with some level of behind-the-wheel training and online training as well,” Mr. Kinniry said. He explained that the practice ensures that new drivers know that the employer places a high value on driving safety and helps eliminate bad driving habits before they take root.
Additional best practices Kinniry cited include the assignment of remedial training with 24 to 48 hours after the fleet becomes aware of a traffic ticket or accident, and involving field managers in the delivery of driver training and monitoring of their direct employees driving behavior.
