CEI’s In-House Appraisers Complete Professional Course in Repairs on New All-Aluminum Ford F-150 Pickup Truck

Trevose, PA, September 22, 2014 — Fifteen members of the in-house Quality Control team from the CEI Group, Inc. (CEI) have completed I-CAR’s course in collision repairs on the new 2015 Ford F-150 pickup truck, which makes the most extensive use of aluminum of any light-duty vehicle on the road, CEI announced today.

“Auto manufacturers are starting to use more aluminum because of its strength, lighter weight and greater corrosion resistance, but it requires a range of completely different repair techniques than steel,” said Greg Neuman, CEI’s senior manager of quality control. For example, he said, different welding tools and procedures are required, and repairs must be made in a totally separate and contained area of a repair shop to keep the metal free from any contact with steel, which causes aluminum to corrode.

The Ford F-150 – one of the most popular fleet vehicles – is the first American-made vehicle to use aluminum for all of its body panels and most of its internal structural parts. “What’s happening with the F-150 is a harbinger of things to come in fleet, ” said Wayne Smolda, CEI’s CEO and president. “Every fleet and its business partners need to be prepared to deal correctly with the challenges of aluminum collision repairs, and I-CAR’s course is a great way to do it.”

The day-long course was conducted at CEI’s headquarters and concluded with an examination. “The course was very comprehensive and thorough, and the test was rigorous,” Mr. Neuman said. “We’ve encountered aluminum material in some body parts for years, but the Ford F-150 presents a whole new challenge for the collision repair industry at large.”

CEI provides fleet accident management services as well as fleet driver safety and risk management services. Mr. Neuman’s quality control department audits every repair estimate it receives from its network of auto body shops for accuracy, safety and cost savings.

CEI Raises Drivers’ Awareness of their Safety Record with New DriverCare Risk Manager™ Home Page

Trevose, PA, August 9, 2012 — The CEI Group, Inc. (CEI) announced today an enhancement to its online DriverCare Risk ManagerTM application designed to raise fleet drivers’ awareness of their safety record.

Called “My Driver Center,” the enhancement is a boldly redesigned fleet driver home page that immediately shows drivers their risk rating and how it compares to the ratings of the entire fleet driver workforce.

“ We believe that accident prevention programs are most effective when drivers are aware of all of the events contained in their driving record, including how they compare to their peers as well,”  said Brian Kinniry, CEI manager of risk and safety solutions. “Drivers need to have a clear understanding of how their record relates to fleet policy and how future events could affect their health and safety in addition to their employment.”

The new home page has been redesigned so that after logging in, fleet drivers see an array of clickable icons for every feature of the DriverCare Risk Manager application.  The biggest icon is a pie chart that shows the percentage of drivers in each of a fleet’s three or four risk categories, with the one the driver is in highlighted. CEI’s Brian Kinniry Cited by Fleet Financials on Best Practices to Reduce Fleet Accidents

Trevose, PA, August 7, 2012 –   Requiring new fleet drivers to take safety training is one of the ten best ways to reduce fleet accidents.  That’s the message Brian Kinniry, CEI manager of risk and safety delivers in the latest issue of Fleet Financials magazine.

Requiring new fleet drivers to take safety training was one of three of the ideas Mr. Kinniry offered in the article entitled “Driver Training Improves Safety & Bolsters Bottom Line,”  in the July/August  issue of the magazine.

“Before new employees get  behind the wheel,  they should know what the company’s safety policy is and be familiar with the vehicle with some level of behind-the-wheel training and online training as well,” Mr. Kinniry said.  He explained that the practice ensures that new drivers know that the employer places a high value on driving safety and helps eliminate bad driving habits before they take root.

Additional best practices Kinniry cited include the assignment of remedial training with 24 to 48 hours after the  fleet becomes aware  of a traffic ticket or accident,  and involving field managers in the delivery of driver training and monitoring of their direct employees driving behavior.
